Ledeen Power Handwheels LM Series
The Ledeen Power Handwheel, as its name implies, is a conventional handwheel with integral power. The Power Handwheel can be used to motorise new valves or can be used to replace existing handwheels thereby motorising existing valves at a minimum cost. The Power Handwheel is a hydraulically powered unit designed to operate from a portable hydraulic pump. The pump being driven from a variety of prime movers such as a petrol engine, an electric motor, a natural gas or air motor, or by a vehicle power take-off.
Alternatively the Power Handwheel can be utilised to motorise new valves with a permanently installed power system. The Power Handwheel can be supplied in two basic forms:
1. Where the hydraulic motor is matched to the particular valve and is an integral component in the Power Handwheel assembly. In this the portable power pack is connected via pressure and return hoses fitted with 'quick disconnect' couplings. This system is preferable when the installation contains many varied sizes of valves with widely varying thrust requirements.
2. Where the hydraulic motor is separate from the Power Handwheel. In this instance the permanently installed handwheel is designed to accept the motor which latches in position. The motor being a part of the portable power pack.
This system reduces cost and is suitable for installations where valves are of the same or similar sizes and thrust requirements.
In all instances the Handwheel is locked when the unit is in the power mode so it will not turn during operation. This safety precaution protects operating personnel from spinning handwheels.
When portable or permanent power is not available the power Handwheel reverts to a conventional manual operator, with the Handwheel driving the pinion of the gear operator directly.
The Ledeen Power Handwheel range is sized to operate the largest valves in service. If the valve can be handwheel operated the Power Handwheel can take care of it- and faster.
